Eyebrow transplant is a procedure that permanently transfers the person's own follicles to the brow area for people whose brows have thinned, have gaps, or who want to recreate their brow shape.
The follicles used in an eyebrow transplant are taken from the person's own scalp. Before the procedure, a personalised brow design is created by assessing the face structure, the shape of the existing brows, the start and end points, the arch and the person's expectations.
Using the FUE technique, follicles are taken one by one from the donor area and placed into special micro channels prepared in the brow area.
How Is an Eyebrow Transplant Performed?
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia.
First, the existing brow structure and its harmony with the face are assessed and the area to be transplanted is defined. To keep a natural look, the start and end points of the brows, the arch, the density and the exit directions of the follicles are planned.
The donor area is usually the nape between the two ears. In a classic eyebrow transplant, the hair in the donor area is shaved in a block so the grafts can be taken.
Suitable follicles are then taken one by one with the FUE method. During the procedure the grafts are prepared outside and separated into single-hair follicles.
In the brow area, special micro channels are created for the point where each follicle will be placed. The prepared single follicles are placed into these channels one by one.
Special Micro Channels in the Brow Area
For a natural look, simply placing the follicles is not enough. The direction and angle at which each follicle is placed matter.
The natural hair directions differ at the head, the middle, the arch and the tail of the brow. For this reason, the micro channels are planned to suit the natural structure of each part of the brow.
The prepared single follicles are placed into micro channels created specifically for each of them, taking the correct direction and angle into account.
The aim is for the implanted follicles to grow in harmony with the existing brows and create a natural-looking brow shape.

How Is a Classic Eyebrow Transplant Applied?
In a classic FUE eyebrow transplant, the hair in the donor area is shaved so the follicles can be taken.
The grafts taken one by one with the FUE method are prepared outside before implantation and separated into single-hair follicles.
Because these follicles are prepared short, their long form cannot be seen during implantation. The direction and angle of placement are therefore planned in advance, taking into account the brow design, the natural directions of the existing brows and the anatomy of the area.
The follicles are placed into the prepared micro channels one by one, aiming for a distribution that suits the natural structure of the brow.
Who Is an Eyebrow Transplant Suitable For?
An eyebrow transplant may be considered for:
- People with thinning or gaps in their brows
- People who want fuller-looking brows
- People unhappy with their brow shape
- People with permanent thinning due to incorrect or excessive plucking
- People who want to change their brow look after microblading or permanent make-up
- People who have lost brow hair due to trauma, surgery or similar causes
- People who want to recreate the shape of their brows
However, the characteristics of the follicles to be used and the adequacy of the donor area must always be assessed before the procedure.
The thickness, structure, direction and colour of the hair and the density of the donor area are important for a natural-looking result.
Personalised Brow Design
Instead of applying a standard brow shape, a design that suits the person's face structure is created.
The start and end points of the brows, the arch height, the brow density and the direction of the follicles are assessed together.
The aim is to preserve the structure of the existing brows and have the newly implanted follicles match it.
An eyebrow transplant is planned not only to fill gaps but also to create a brow shape that suits the face.
After an Eyebrow Transplant
After an eyebrow transplant, mild redness, sensitivity and swelling may be seen in the treated area. These effects vary from person to person.
The first wash is done on day 3. From the third day, the care and washing method recommended by our clinic is used.
After a healing period of about 1 week, you can return to daily life.
Shock loss may occur within the first 10–15 days. During this period the visible hairs may fall out, but the follicles remain under the skin.
New hairs start to grow from around the 3rd month. In the following months they continue to grow longer, thicken and adapt to the brow area.
The final result usually appears within 6–8 months. The development time varies from person to person.
Caring for the Follicles After an Eyebrow Transplant
Because the follicles used are taken from the scalp, they have the structure of scalp hair in the early period and keep growing.
For this reason the implanted hairs need to be trimmed and shaped at regular intervals to keep the brow form.
Over time the follicles adapt to their new location and continue to grow in the brow area.
An eyebrow transplant is a permanent procedure that uses the person's own follicles.
The Difference Between Eyebrow Transplant and Long Hair FUE
In a classic eyebrow transplant, the donor hair is shaved and the follicles are taken with the FUE method. The grafts are separated into single follicles outside and placed into micro channels prepared in the brow area.
In the Long Hair FUE Eyebrow Transplant method, the hair is taken without shaving, keeping its current length. Because the long form of the follicles is preserved, their direction and length can be seen during implantation.
Both methods use the person's own follicles and aim for a natural-looking brow that suits the face. However, the techniques and the way the follicles are assessed during the procedure differ.
