Question 1

Is there pain during or after a hair transplant?

Accepted Answer

Because a hair transplant is performed under local anaesthesia, no pain is felt during the procedure. A brief needle prick and mild sensitivity may be felt while the anaesthetic is applied.

After the procedure, most patients do not experience noticeable pain. In the first days, mild sensitivity, tightness or swelling may be seen in the donor and recipient areas.

After the procedure, our patients are prescribed antibiotics and the necessary medication, and detailed care and usage instructions for the healing period are shared.

Question 2

When can I return to normal life after a hair transplant?

Accepted Answer

About 1 week after a hair transplant, once the crusts in the recipient area have fallen off, you can return to normal daily life.

During the first week it is important to protect the recipient area and follow the care instructions given by our clinic.

Question 3

When can I have a haircut after a hair transplant?

Accepted Answer

About 1 month after a hair transplant, the hair can be cut with scissors.

To avoid damaging the recipient area, clippers, razors and similar tools should be avoided in the early period. Care should be taken not to press on the recipient area during the cut.

Question 4

When can I exercise after a hair transplant?

Accepted Answer

Light walking and light exercise can start 3 weeks after a hair transplant.

For weight training and intense physical activity, waiting about 2 months is recommended.

During this time it is important to protect the recipient area and let healing progress properly.

Question 5

Can I swim in the sea after a hair transplant?

Accepted Answer

It is recommended not to swim in the sea for about 1 month after a hair transplant. During this time it is important to protect the recipient area and let healing complete.

After about 1 month, once healing in the recipient area is complete, you can swim in the sea. Sun protection should also be kept in mind in the early period.

Question 6

Can a hair transplant be done in summer?

Accepted Answer

Yes, a hair transplant can also be done in summer. The season alone is not an obstacle.

In summer, special care should be taken after the procedure to protect against the sun and not expose the recipient area to direct sunlight in the first weeks.

It is also important not to swim in the sea for about 1 month and to follow the care instructions given during healing.

Question 7

Can I go out in the sun after a hair transplant?

Accepted Answer

After a hair transplant, the recipient area should not be exposed to direct sunlight, especially during the first month.

When you need to go out, take care to protect the recipient area from the sun. Our clinic's advice on wearing a hat to protect the area in the early period should also be followed.

Once healing is complete, you can gradually return to daily life and activities in the sun.

Question 8

Should I stop blood thinners before a hair transplant?

Accepted Answer

Whether blood thinners should be stopped before a hair transplant depends on the medication and the person's health.

For this reason, blood thinners must never be stopped without a doctor's advice. The approach before the transplant should be decided with the doctor who prescribed the medication.

It is important to tell our clinic about all the medications you use before the procedure.

Question 9

Which medications or supplements should I be careful about before a hair transplant?

Accepted Answer

Before the procedure you need to tell our clinic about all the medications, vitamins and food supplements you use.

Medications and supplements that may affect bleeding risk in particular should be assessed before the procedure. However, medications regularly prescribed by your doctor must not be stopped or changed on your own.

By sharing the medications and supplements you use, you can receive preparation advice tailored to you from our clinic.

Question 10

Does shock loss occur after a hair transplant?

Accepted Answer

Yes, shock loss after a hair transplant is normal. It usually appears in the first weeks or months after the transplant.

During this time the implanted hairs fall out but the follicles remain under the skin. New hair starts to grow from around the 3rd month and continues to grow longer and denser in the following months.

Question 11

Can heart patients have a hair transplant?

Accepted Answer

For people with heart disease, a hair transplant can be assessed according to the type of disease, general health and the medications used.

Especially for patients on blood thinners, medications must not be stopped on their own. When necessary, the patient's cardiologist is consulted to decide whether a hair transplant is suitable.

Existing illnesses and all medications must be reported to our clinic before the procedure.

Question 12

Do I need to rest after a hair transplant?

Accepted Answer

In the first 3 days, swelling (oedema) forms on the head and the implanted follicles have not yet settled. Accidentally bumping your head or working bent over can dislodge the follicles.

Question 13

How many days after a hair transplant can I return to work?

Accepted Answer

If you work at a computer or from home, you can return to work on day 4. However, if your job involves meeting people face to face, waiting 10 days for the crusts and swelling to clear is more comfortable.

Question 14

How much time off is needed for physically demanding work or heavy lifting?

Accepted Answer

Heavy lifting, working bent over and heavy sweating harm the implanted follicles. For this reason it is vital for people in physically demanding jobs to take at least 10 to 14 days off.

Question 15

When can people who work outdoors return to work?

Accepted Answer

Sunlight, dust, wind and rain affect newly implanted follicles negatively. People who work outdoors should take at least 2 weeks off or wear special hats approved by the doctor when going outside.

Question 16

When will others no longer notice I had a hair transplant?

Accepted Answer

After the crust-removal wash on days 10 and 11 after the operation, the redness and crusts on the head largely clear. After that, from the outside it only looks as if the hair has been cut short.

Question 17

Can I wear a hat or cap when I return to work?

Accepted Answer

For the first 10 days, tight hats, helmets or hard hats that press on the recipient area must not be worn. After day 10, loose, wide hats recommended by your doctor that do not touch the recipient area can be used.

Question 18

What is the difference between Long Hair FUE and classic eyebrow transplant?

Accepted Answer

In a classic eyebrow transplant, the donor hair is shaved and the follicles are taken with the FUE method. The grafts are separated into single follicles outside and placed into micro channels prepared in the brow area.

In the Long Hair FUE Eyebrow Transplant method, the hair is taken without shaving, keeping its current length. Because the long form of the follicles is preserved, their direction and length can be seen during implantation.

Both methods use the person's own follicles and aim for a natural-looking brow that suits the face. However, the techniques and the way the follicles are assessed during the procedure differ.

Question 19

Is there pain during or after an eyebrow transplant?

Accepted Answer

The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia.

In the first days, mild redness, sensitivity and swelling may be seen in the brow area. These effects vary from person to person.

Question 20

How long does healing take after an eyebrow transplant?

Accepted Answer

After an eyebrow transplant there is a healing period of about 1 week.

The first wash is done on day 3. From the third day, the care and washing method recommended by our clinic is used.

Question 21

When can I return to social life after an eyebrow transplant?

Accepted Answer

After a healing period of about 1 week, you can return to daily life.

Question 22

Is there swelling after an eyebrow transplant?

Accepted Answer

After an eyebrow transplant, mild redness, sensitivity and swelling may be seen in the treated area. These effects vary from person to person.

Question 23

Do the implanted hairs grow long after an eyebrow transplant?

Accepted Answer

Because the follicles used are taken from the scalp, they have the structure of scalp hair in the early period and keep growing.

For this reason the implanted hairs need to be trimmed and shaped at regular intervals to keep the brow form. Over time the follicles adapt to their new location and continue to grow in the brow area.

Question 24

Does shock loss occur after an eyebrow transplant?

Accepted Answer

Shock loss may occur within the first 10–15 days. During this period the visible hairs may fall out, but the follicles remain under the skin.

Question 25

When do the new brows start to grow?

Accepted Answer

New hairs start to grow from around the 3rd month. In the following months they continue to grow longer, thicken and adapt to the brow area.

The final result usually appears within 6–8 months. The development time varies from person to person.

Question 26

Is an eyebrow transplant permanent?

Accepted Answer

An eyebrow transplant is a permanent procedure that uses the person's own follicles.
